There are lots of different ways to design your web site. While the content is the most important part of your site, in the age of electronic media, design issues become more important. Think about it this way: when you read a book, you expect to see words on a page, in order. The medium of print can be very exciting in this form. However, when you watch television, you would be bored stiff by that same presentation of information.

This is not to say that there is a wrong way to design your site, but to say that by using elements of design theory as understood by advertisers and other graphic artists, you can make your website really shine.

Think about web sites you really like -- what appeals to you about them? You should also think about sites you dislike -- what makes them ugly? When you step back and examine the methods used to design web sites, you will find yourself cringing at ugly web sites and trying to emulate masterful ones.
