NWE Help: Web Authoring: Saving in ASWE
NWE Home :: Help :: Web :: Authoring :: ASWE
To save a file in asWe, do one of the following:
- Choose Save from the File menu
- Press the toolbar button which looks like a disk (third from left)
- Press control-s on your keyboard.
(Most functions in asWe work this way -- you can do them with a menu choice, a button press, or a keyboard command. Work the way you find most comfortable.)
The following dialog box will come up:
This dialog box shows you several things. The top shows the display filter being used. (More on that here.) On the left is a list of subdirectories in the current directory. On the right is a list of files in the current directory which match the filter. The bottom box is the name of the file.
- Make sure that you are saving your file in your public_html directory. If necessary, scroll down on the left until you see public_html and double-click. The window will refresh and show that directory. If you don't save the file in your public_html directory it won't be available on the web.
- Next, type a file name for the current document. Make sure the file name ends in .html or your document will not look right when viewed in a web broswer. You may want to refer to our suggestions for naming files as well.
- After you've typed a file name, press Enter. The file will be saved. You're now ready to view the file in Mozilla.
