NWE Help: Web Authoring: ASWE Previewing
NWE Home :: Help :: Web :: Authoring :: ASWE
Previewing your work is probably the most important thing you can do when you're learning to write for the web. Forgetting to put in some basic tags can make your day (week, month, whatever) much less enjoyable.
asWe has a "Preview" button with a somewhat indistinct picture of the world on it. It's right next to the big "W" on the far left of the asWe screen.
However, because the preview button has several quirks, we recommend that you use it with care.
To preview a page you've authored without using the preview button:
- Make sure the page you're working on has been saved.
- Launch Mozilla or bring up a new browser window if it's running already.
- Choose the "My homepage" bookmark to bring up your homepage.
- Type the name of the file you've saved in the "Location:" box at the top of the Mozilla window. Press the "Enter" key.
- The page will be loaded.
Once you've got the page in a Mozilla window, all you need to do is press the Reload button on the Mozilla menu button and the page will reload.
Preview button quirks:
- The preview button will show you a preview of what the page will look like once it's saved. You will have to save it yourself, though, if you want those changes you've been slaving over to last.
- Since asWe previews with a temporary file, rather than from the URL, links to images or other pages won't load if they're in a subdirectory.
Once you've mastered the art of saving and previewing your documents, you can move on to more powerful asWe features.
