To speak in the MOO, type say or a double quote (") followed by what you want to say. When you press Enter, the other players in the same room as you will see what you have said. For example, you can type either of these:
"Hello? Is anyone here?
say Hello? Is anyone here?
Others in the room will see:
Jsmith says, "Hello, is anyone here?"
You will see:
You say, "Hello, is anyone here?"
Conversing in MOOville is interestingly different from 'regular' speech. After a few minutes, you'll get the hang of it. There are a few other commands you can use to speak to someone in particular, privately, or to someone not in the room with you. Here's a quick rundown:
| short form | long form | explanation |
| " (double-quote) | say words | speak aloud to everyone in the room |
| - (dash) | to person words | speak aloud, directing words to person |
| : (colon) | emote words | show yourself doing words |
| mu person words | say words privately to person (in the same room) | |
| ' (apostrophe) | page person words | say words to privately person (anywhere in the MOO) |
Try 'help communication' in the MOO to learn a lot more about your MOO communication options.
