NWE Help: MOO: Intro: Customizing
NWE Home :: Help :: MOO :: Intro
When you first get a MOO character, it is very plain. There are a few things you should do to make it "your own."
- Pick a better name.
Your MOO name, like your NWE name, is probably jstudent or something equally boring. Try @rename me to "Janitor" -- and substitute whatever name you like. The name will have to be unique, so some names may already be taken. Keep trying.Note: If you do rename yourself, make sure to use the new name when you log in to the MOO -- using @rename changes your MOO login name too.
- Describe yourself.
How do you want to look in the MOO? Figure that out, and then type @describe me as "Six foot four, and full of muscles." -- or whatever else you'd like to be. - Pick a gender.
By default, MOO characters don't have a gender. You can pick a gender by typing @gender female -- for a list of available genders, just type @gender by itself. - Think about a home.
When you begin each session in MOOville, you will start at the Rolfs Hall Bus Stop. If you get lost, you can always get back to the Bus Stop by typing home. When you log out, your character will go to "Limbo," where it will wait until you log in again. If you want your character to stay in MOOville when you leave, you'll need to set a home. See our Help on Homes for more information. - Messages You can also change the @Messages on your character to customize your responses to various events. See our Messages help pages for more info on this.
