NWE Help: Graphics: XV: Convert
NWE Home :: Help :: Graphics :: XV
Images for the web are stored in a variet of different formats. The most common are GIF and JPG. Sometimes, you might want to change your image from one format to another. To make this change, you can't just rename your image with a new file extension. Instead, you need to convert it using a graphics program, like XV.
To convert an image, load it into XV using the load window, then save it using the save window. When saving the image, change the format. The image will be converted.
Generally speaking, in the NWE only three formats are needed (gif, jpeg and tiff), and unless you're absolutely sure of what you are doing, there's no need to change the format.
See also our page on image formats.
