ImageMagick allows you to write new text onto an image. To type on an image: (1) Select Image Edit > (2) Choose Annotate from the toolbar.

A second toolbar appears that allows you to pick a Font Name (regrettably, not many fonts are available, but the browse button gives you a few more choices), Font Color, and Box Name (if you don't want a box to appear around the text, select transpare). Font Name is the only way you can control font size. ImageMagick has severe limitations with font size. Your best best for larger sizes with ImageMagick is to choose the 12X24 dimensions. Otherwise, you can save your work and later use Xpaint to work with larger font sizes.

The "Rotate Text" button allows you to type your text at an angle you select from a dialog box. However, if you want to rotate your text, you must first select "Rotate Text" and choose the angle you want. Then ImageMagick allows you to type in your text, and it will rotate the text when you click "Apply."
