NWE Home :: Help :: Graphics :: Gimp
Opening images in The Gimp will probably be a familiar procedure. To open an image, click on The Gimp palette and select "File" and then "Open...." You should see the dialog box below.
Open dialog box
To open an image, select it by clicking on it. You can change the directory that the Gimp is looking at by clicking on the name of the directory you want to look at. When you have the image selected, click "OK."
You can also open an image when you open The Gimp, if you use the shell. If you wanted to open an image called wombat.jpg, change directories so that you are in the same directory as the image, then type:
gimp wombat.jpg &
The Gimp will start up and display that image when it opens.
