I saw the third Matrix also. I'm not quite sure what I think of it yet. I thought it started out very choppy, but my friends and I think that that was the only way they could present the things they had to. The action scenes were of course very cool and were really the main theme of the movie. I guess they didn't really have much to do with the actual story line to finish the trilogy, so they just made it more entertaining to take up some time. But, I actually enjoyed the fight scenes a lot. Did anyone else notice that the women were the ones kicking all the ass in this movie? Right on!
The whole "power of love" was definetly a big theme in the movie. At first I thought that that was silly, but when you think about it love does drive most of everything, especially passion, desire and will (Not necessarily romantic love, but love in general). It reminds me of the movie Fifth element. At the end, the fifth element needs a reason to save Earth. We (humans) fight and have wars and purposefully kill other people. So to quote "why save life if it brings death?" or something like that. Only until she found love did she have a reason to save life. Maybe that was the same with Neo. okay, this is a big broad subject I'm opening, so I'll just stop there and let you think about it. We can argue later if you want ;)
I agree with everyone else though, the final fight scene was awesome! I liked the way they ended the movie. I wonder though, if people have never seen the Animatrix and comics, would they really understand the ending? I don't want to go into it in detail for those of you who haven't seen it yet, but I was just wondering if the people who have only seen the triolgy truly understand the importance of the ending. Maybe that is a big reason why it got such bad reviews. Hmmm..
Overall, I liked it. It was not the best movie I've ever seen, but it as okay.
